For me he still had his moments for us when playing on the right, but up front he is an absolute no go for me. Zero pace. Defenders must love it, which Man U did that night last season, I don't think they moved from their line all evening. Just stepped into him everytime.

Average Yarmolenko is better than people think.
Mainly because poor Yarmolenko is absolutely rubbish.
But he's not always absolutely rubbish.
I mean, if he had as good a game against Man U as Jonathan Spector once did, I wouldn't be as surprised as I was then.
Although I would be slightly surprised.

Likely going to be the first game of our new signings wanting to impress so hopefully we at least give them a better showing than when we had Yarmo in the cup last time.
Personally would try and keep Bowen semi fresh to lead the line for this one over Yarmo. In fact I'd rather play Areola up top than Yarmo these days.

The only position we would need to dip into the under 23s for in a second string squad is winger or forward, depending on where you play Yarmolenko. That assumes bringing in Zouma or similar but no one else.
It is obviously not on Manchester United's level but let's not exaggerate the woe is us.

I think you’re getting confused between ‘second string’ and ‘under 23 team’. In our case they are basically the same thing, but most other clubs have squad depth to their first team.
You’re not comparing like with like. If we play our second string we don’t have a chance unless they play their third string

I mostly agree, except I think our 2nd string can give their 2nd string a game.
They've been firing in pre-season and the positiviity of the 1st team is rubbing off.

So you'd reckon we are fucked
BUT .... this is probably our best chance of a trophy so a strong team that eliminates one of the other potential winners would be a statement of ambition.

It’s not a forgone conclusion. There will be a good mix of experience and youth, and if they have learnt Moyes’ defensive brief, they are capable of keeping man u at bay and nicking a goal.
The pressure will be more on them than us.

We do have absolutely terrible luck with cup draws. others seem to get the opposite man city and the sexton Blake's constantly get lower league opposition.

Our 15 man squad of quality will relish this one. 4 competions and about 15 proven players. Still we will be bringing in another 2 or 3 this week.... :-(

On the bright side, with the Europa League as well, going out to ManU looks a lot better than some Div 1 side, as im sure we will be playing the reseveres in this comp...........mind you expect the mancs will as well!!!
